Gasoline Grill

Gasoline Grill is just a little more than a year old yet the burger joint made a name for itself rapidly after its opening in April 2016, serving only 100 burgers a day back then. I guess the high demand of freshly ground patties and the most delicious brioche buns threw a monkey wrench into their business model, and now they're serving happy customers Copenhagen's best organic burgers all day long.

It took me three trips to Copenhagen before I finally had the chance to gorge on their burgers, blaming their bygone first-serve-first-come system and the winter. The name makes sense as the joint is located in an old petrol station. There are no seatings inside the joint, which makes the whole burger experience quite bone-chilling if you visit in the winter. But winter time equals less queuing. On a hot day, I had to queue for an hour before I could order, and waited another painful 45 minutes before the burger got ready. Yes, it was worth the long wait. Best tip: Avoid the weekends. And order the cheeseburger. The butterburger (pictured above) is really good too but I'm a diehard fan of cheeseburgers, and nothing beats an excellent cheeseburger like the one from Gasoline Grill. My friend Anders Husa preferred the butterburger over the cheeseburger. Read his review here.

Gasoline Grill was probably my #110 unique burger since I started touring the world searching for the best cheeseburger. Still, it's one of the best one I've had (in a long time). The burger fits into your hand and resembles a classic American burger in terms of size, appearance, and taste. The brioche bun is perfect – sweet enough, soft in the right places, holds the burger very well and doesn't get soggy or fall apart but has some give. The freshly ground organic meat is juicy, has the perfect amount of seasoning and tastes just right. And not to mention the sauce... Man, I could travel back to Copenhagen anytime just for another Gasoline burger or three.

My burger rating system might strike you as odd. On a scale of 1 to 6, only the burgers that make me break out in a burger dance gets 6, which is rare I tell you. Gasoline Grill gets 6- out of 6, and that's pretty close to burger perfection too.
