Oslo's best and worst cheeseburgers

Oslo's best and worst cheeseburgers

"What's the best burger in Oslo?", people tend to ask me. I've eaten 111 different burgers all over the world (yes, I specialize in cheezburgers), yet I didn't have an answer to that question until last week as I decided to do something about it. I, the self-proclaimed Burger Queen and Aficionado, teamed up with the greatest burger jury consisting of the Blogger and initiator of the ultimate burger test, Anders Husa, the Butcher, Daniel Byskov from Anni's Pølsemakeri, and the Beer Lover, André Brandt from Ego Brygghus, to find the best burger in Oslo. We got the closest version of a classic cheeseburger at each burger place and dissected every burger carefully before it was completely demolished and rated by the four of us. After having devoured 15 burgers in just 7 hours, which was a lot of hard work by the way, we found the best burger in town.

For me, the ultimate cheeseburger is handheld and comes with a medium to medium rare patty that is juicy and a bit greasy with a light texture as a result from not over-kneading the meat, layered with caramelized onions for some sweetness and a generous slice of melted cheese, squeezed between brioche buns that are toasted with butter on the inside for crunch and spread with a dollop of ketchup and mustard on the bottom. So simple but apparently really hard to make or find in Oslo. Truth be told, Oslo boasts a rapidly growing burger scene but nevertheless the burger game is weak. The winner of the burger test is nothing like Copenhagen's best burger (which is, in my opinion, the best burger I've had in Scandinavia).

Here's the breakdown of my personal verdict. Don't forget to check out this post by Anders Husa for the whole story.
